Stitchweld

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Located on six acres of a formerly “dead” industrial area south of Milwaukee, this development builds upon the energetic atmosphere for which the community of Bay View is known. Stitchweld, named in homage of the area’s industrial heritage, defines the project that brings together a vestige of Bay View’s and Milwaukee’s industrial heritage with the new, vibrant Bay View community.

The development is centered on a communal green space with four buildings surrounding. Paying homage to the industrial nature of the site, a preserved steel structure from one of the razed buildings is being reused as a marker for outdoor amenities, including a dog park and fire pit. Another has been transformed into a stage and beer garden. This project brings activity and life to a formerly vacant area of the city.
