The 21st Century Library sustains the life of the community. As an expression of continuity and enrichment, it is a portal to both the past and future. It is practical: a tool box for modern life. It is social: the community’s living room. It is a technology center, a business incubator, a political forum and a refuge from the modern world. The library needs to be something different for each of us each time we walk in. We actively support the Urban Libraries Council and the American Library Association and have participated in two Library Journal Design Institutes. Most recently, you may have seen us at the 2016 Illinois Library Association conference: “Don’t Worry…We’re Only Going to Change Everything.”
