Architect Shaun Kelly, AIA joins Demco Products and Barrington Area Library on this week’s webinar: Playful Learning in the Library. Tune in as they share their story on the recent renovation at Barrington Area Library and how it has changed the future their library and how it has inspired the Barrington community!
Play spaces encourage the development of literacy skills through active and experiential learning. As part of a building-wide renovation in 2014, the Barrington Area Library combined the best parts of libraries and museums to create a hands-on active learning space that touts the benefits of play and brings the whole family back for more.
About Barrington Area Library
After a complete renovation, the Barrington Area Library is ready to meet the needs of the community head on. A new grand stair creates a beacon for the library which redefines the connection to the community. New collaborative spaces – like the smart rooms, media labs, maker space, business center, internet cafe and reading commons – expand library service to the 21st century. A new Youth Services Department engages younger readers with interactive, museum-quality learning experiences, promotes active play, and offers a kid-friendly media lab.
