Rocket Baby Bakery

Engberg Anderson transformed a former ‘50s-era office building into a full-service neighborhood cafe´ and commercial bakery.  The design pays homage to the traditional French bakery, without copying. The whimsical space features a vivid blue exterior and a red door. Inside, tile flooring, marble countertops, and a wood ceiling are accented by a cheery color palette of yellow, red and teal. Large sidewalk-facing windows infuse the space with natural light and display artisan bread and European-style pastries. The cafe seats 16, with additional outdoor seating during the warmer months. The baking kitchen’s design was intentional. Rocket Baby’s goal was to allocate at least 50 percent of the business to selling scratch-baked goods to area grocers. Both the kitchen and cafe allow for that to occur and allow customers a warm, inviting place to enjoy local, fresh baked goods.
