The Flats @ 402 Wilson
The Flats at 402 is located at 402 Wilson Street, at the intersection of Broom and Wilson Street just a few blocks west of the Wisconsin State Capital building. The development consists of one new building with an expanded lobby/entry area and the building’s leasing office in nearby proximity.
This project is a new 54-unit affordable housing building, totaling 69,840 gross square feet. It includes 4-stories above ground plus a Lower-Level parking floor. Floors 1 through 4 consist of fifty-four units, a lobby, and leasing offices, while the Lower Level contains twenty-nine parking stalls, bike parking, a dog wash and tenant storage.
The building is a wood framed structural system over a concrete podium which includes planks, beams, and columns. The exterior of the building consists of three structural wide flange accent columns at the building entry along with a large intersecting canopy, both elements are finely integrated into the overall building architecture. The project reused all the salvaged stone cladding from the building that was originally located on site. The remainder of the exterior materials were an espresso tone fiber cement board along with black windows and doors.
