Located in the Milwaukee neighborhood of Bronzeville, the Historic Garfield School redevelopment will transform the vacant city block of N 4th Street and W North Avenue into a vibrant mixed-use campus. The two-phase development includes the renovation of the existing historic school into 30-units of affordable housing. The second phase includes demolishing existing buildings on the adjoining property and constructing a new housing development, The Griot. The building will offer 40-units of housing, 8,000 sf of commercial space, the new home for America’s Black Holocaust Museum. The project is a showcase of the commitment of the city, the community and the development team to better the Bronzeville neighborhood.
