The Pabst Theater

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Pabst Theater is one of only five Theater buildings in the United States that has maintained operations on the same site for over a century. This rich history made the Pabst Theater a National Historic Landmark in 1992.

“The historic Pabst Theater is to Wisconsin what Carnegie Hall is to New York.  Its visual intimacy as a venue for all the performing arts leaves the viewer with an unforgettable experience that blends art and building with history. Like Carnegie Hall, the Pabst performs like a finely crafted acoustical instrument.” – Charles Engberg, Engberg Anderson

In remodeling this 1895 landmark theater, the primary goal was to make all 1,300 seats more accessible and to meet ADA requirements including the installation of elevators, enlarged restroom and lobby facilities and special seating areas at each level. Extensive remodeling to the public spaces and the back of house operation spaces were also a part of this project
