Eastern Avenue Library
Davenport Public Library
Davenport Public Library’s Eastern Avenue Library is more than a library: it is also a park pavilion, an intermodal transit center, a bakery café and a community hub. Nestled within a 14-acre park, the 25,800 sf library serves as a “destination point”. As the cornerstone cultural element in a Traditional Neighborhood Development, the library has sparked the growth of surrounding residential development in northeastern Davenport and positioned the City to grow even in difficult economic times. The new Davenport Public Library engages the community and celebrates creativity. The award winning New Landmark library re-imagines services, space and programming which directly responded to the needs of the community it serves.
By making sustainability a priority, the library promotes connectivity to the neighborhood with bike trails and pedestrian paths. Among the green technologies implemented daylighting, a well-insulated and tight building enclosure, and a geo-exchange system are the foundations of the building’s energy performance.
