Milwaukee, WI – The entire community was in attendance for the celebration of the groundbreaking for the Historic Garfield School redevelopment. The project, located in Milwaukee’s Bronzeville District, aims to transform + adapt the former Garfield School into multifamily apartments. It will also involve demolishing the neighboring vacant properties to construct The Griot, a new building that will include 41-units of housing and commercial space. This development has catalyzed the reincarnation of America’s Black Holocaust Museum to potentially reopen their doors in 2018. The development is a partnership between Milwaukee developers Maures Development Group and J. Jeffers Company.
