Kenosha Civil War Museum

Kenosha, Wisconsin

Located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the Civil War Museum portrays the stories of residents from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota who served in the Civil War. Though no battles were fought in Wisconsin, the people from this area made significant contributions to the war. The museum is a canvas for the human stories of soldiers who went to fight, during the time period of 1840 to the late 1870’s. Featured aspects include personal narratives from the soldiers, women and children on the home front, the role of the Underground Railroad and the plight of minorities during the war. The museum contains exhibit and gallery spaces, reception area, museum store, research archive, lecture hall and lobby.
