Talcott Free Library
Rockton, Illinois
Talcott Free Library has been incrementally built over more than a century at the heart of historic Rockton, Illinois. In 2011, Engberg Anderson was hired to study how to expand the library to meet the needs of the community. After much public input, the library settled on a plan that expands the building by a modest 1,500 square feet that includes a new space for teens and a playroom for kids. A complete interior renovation improves the efficiency of the plan, the efficacy of staff spaces and provides flexible and adaptable public spaces while simultaneously improving the buildings energy efficiency, safety and code compliance.
