Ten Chimneys

Historic Residence + Program Center

Genesee Depot, Wisconsin

Ten Chimneys – A  historic house museum and theater complex, located in Genesee Depot, is the former estate of actor and actress’s Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Engberg Anderson lead the stabilization efforts of the main house, the cottage, the 19th century Swedish style log studio, green house, creamery, barn and pool house. New climate controlled HVAC and electrical systems were invisibly added to provide protection of the interiors and their contents, which include hand painted murals, decoupage wall treatments, draperies, antique furniture, books, photographs and theater artifacts

A 25,000 sf Program Center was constructed, which was included in the overall comprehensive site plan. Ten Chimneys is an intensely popular attraction for a wide variety of individuals wishing to experience the inspiration of this unique historic site. However, beyond its role as a museum, it also offers a diverse menu of programs, developed in collaboration with an impressive list of national advisors, which ensures that future generations will benefit from Ten Chimneys’ rich history.
