UW Credit Union is to open a branch in the ground floor of a new apartment building on East North Avenue that is on course to start construction this year after gaining a key city of Milwaukee approval Thursday.
That four-story building with 53 apartments is a partnership between Ryan Pattee, owner of Milwaukee developer Pattee Group, and Milwaukee realtor Shar Borg of Compass. The building will have two first-floor retail spaces, including 5,000 square feet for a UW Credit Union branch, Borg said Friday.
“They’ve talked about how they wanted to expand their presence in Milwaukee, and this is a great spot for them,” she said. “It’s around a lot of UW students as well as UW alumni.”
The new apartments would replace three buildings at North Avenue and North Newhall Street, east of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Cambridge Commons dorm.
