Janesville Performing Arts
As part of the versatile renovation of the former Janesville High School, the Janesville Performing Arts Center is housed in what was the school’s auditorium. The building’s past is enhanced by the reinvigoration of the theater and the spirit of the performing arts community of Janesville.
The renovation included plaster restoration to match the existing ornate plaster work and decorative painting appropriate to the Arts and Crafts era. Enhancements to the rest of the facility include a new entrance marquee, a lobby with a grand staircase leading to the auditorium and the conversion of the music wing into a multipurpose room. Support spaces include a director’s office, box office, catering preparation area, dressing rooms, storage and spacious restroom facilities. The site work included an outdoor plaza with connection to an adjacent city park, landscaping at the entry and a parking lot shared with the adjacent library.
