Cofrin Library
University of Wisconsin - Green Bay
The next Cofrin Library will be northeast Wisconsin’s regional research hub emphasizing collaborative learning and partnership. Engberg Anderson led a multi-disciplinary team to study strategic transformation options to support library services, informal learning, student success, and central administration services as part of a revitalization of the Cofrin Library at the heart of campus. We completed a facility condition analysis, programming, and concept design to renovate the 175,000 sf building. After completing the analysis and a space needs assessment, the study compared the functionality and costs of a full renovation versus a complete replacement. The final recommendation included replacing the 9-story, 198,000 sf tower with a 180,000 sf mid-rise research center. The new facility will consist of 89,200 sf of library space and create a collaborative, mixed-use learning environment. It will offer technology, workspace, and staff expertise to support students, faculty, industry, business and community leaders, economic development, and academic advancement.
