Waukesha Memorial Hospital
Lab Tech Addition
Built into a steep hill on the backside of the existing Waukesha Memorial Hospital hospital, the two phase project includes a new 37,300 sf addition and approximately 10,000 sf of renovated space. The new two-story addition contains a new loading dock, linen storage, and food service storage on the first floor and three new large laboratories, offices and support spaces on the second floor. The large floor-to-ceiling windows of the laboratories and conference rooms maximize daylight and views of the City of Waukesha below and create an open well-lit environment for hospital staff.
“The Lab Design of the Future”
In keeping with the Green Guide for Health Care, several major sustainable features were incorporated into the design of the project. Low-flow plumbing fixtures, native landscaping, and approximately 1,200 square feet of “green roof” reduce water usage and stormwater runoff. Recycled rubber flooring, low VOC carpeting and paint help create a healthy and productive interior environment for hospital staff.
