The 21st Century Library sustains the life of the community. As an expression of continuity and enrichment, it is a portal to both the past and future. It is practical: a toolbox for modern life. It is social: the community’s living room. It is a technology center, a business incubator, a political forum, and a refuge from the modern world. The library needs to be something different for each of us each time we walk in. We actively support the Urban Libraries Council and the American Library Association and have participated in multiple Library Journal Design Institutes. Additionally, we are active members of and presenters at the annual conferences of both the Illinois Library Association and Wisconsin Library Association.
